Please join AFT-W President Kim Kohlhaas and AFT 3535 member Doug Singsen for a series of discussions of Red State Revolt: The Teachers' Strike Wave and Working-Class Politics by Eric Blanc. The book looks at how teachers in red states across the US organized a strike wave in 2018 that won major victories that appeared impossible just months before. It's engagingly written and inspirational as it shows how ordinary teachers can build power even in the most difficult situations. We'll be discussing how they did this and what lessons we can learn from them about organizing in our schools and workplaces here in Wisconsin. The book is available for $12 direct from the publisher and the discussions will take place on Sundays at 7pm on January 17 (Introduction and Chapter 1), January 31 (Chapter 2), and February 21 (Chapter 3 and Epilogue).
